Employment history:

Giles is a Jersey Advocate, Partner and is joint head of the International Trusts & Private Client team in Jersey. He has 17 years of legal experience in Jersey, 12 as a Jersey qualified Advocate. Giles practices in all aspects of non-contentious trust and foundation law (whether private, purpose or philanthropic or hybrid in nature) with a focus on positively assisting trust companies on issues concerning private trusts, foundations and, in particular, indemnities, supplemental instruments, reserved powers, charters and regulations for Jersey Foundations and the preparation of all other trust and foundation related documentation.

Giles has spoken at international trust conferences in Jersey, Moscow, London, Geneva and Singapore for Jersey Finance, The Jersey Association of Trust Companies and STEP.

Giles co-authored the Jersey template precedents for instruments of retirement appointment of trustees (together with indemnities) for the STEP Practical Guide to the Transfer of Trusteeships (published 2007 and republished 2011), various Trust and Trustees World Survey articles and has written articles for the Journal of Trusts and Estate Planning, the Journal of International Tax, Trust and Corporate Planning and the Times.

Giles was also awarded the honour of being in the 2009 Top 50 Private Client Advisor for the UK, Crown Dependencies and British overseas territories.

Professional qualifications:

Giles was called to the Jersey Bar as an Advocate in January 2000.
