Employment history:
Jeremy specialises in commercial litigation generally,
particularly cases involving insolvency, contentious trust disputes
and financial services businesses, along with asset tracing and
freezing orders. He also advises on regulatory and money laundering
issues.
Jeremy has been involved in many of the more significant cases
before the Royal Court of Guernsey. He acted for Westminster City
Council in relation to the proceedings against Dame Shirley Porter
and has been involved with a number of high value insolvencies. He
acted for the liquidators in the Flightlease Group liquidations,
part of the SwissAir Group which involved disputed claims against
the group for several billion dollars. He currently acts for
Investec Trust (Guernsey) Limited in relation to a disputed breach
of trust claim and for the liquidators of Carlyle Capital
Corporation in the pursuit of a claim for US$1billion against a
number of parties.
Jeremy also deals with insolvency issues relating to various
structures such as protected cell companies, incorporated cell
companies and limited partnerships and acted for the Guernsey
Financial Services Commission in relation to the administration of
Messenger PCC which is believed to be the first insolvency process
involving a PCC. Jeremy has been involved with and continues to be
involved with a number of disputes relating to the operation of
PCCs and similar entities.
Jeremy speaks regularly on insolvency issues and contributes to
a number of publications in the field.
He is currently the International Practice Group Head for
Litigation across all of the jurisdictions in which Mourant Ozannes
practice and the Joint Head of International Trusts & Private
Clients in Guernsey.
