From 1 January 2015, the qualifying period in respect of the right to claim unfair dismissal will change in Jersey for certain employees. In order to claim unfair dismissal, an employee must be continuously employed for one year, as opposed to 26 weeks under the current regime. However, this change will not have retrospective effect and will only apply to jobs which begin after 1 January 2015.
