Employment history:

St John attended Emmanuel College, Cambridge and graduated with a first in his LLB. St John was a lecturer in Law at the University of Manchester from 1976-1987. From 1987 to 1994 he worked with a specialist law firm in Jersey operating in the trust, tax and corporate fields. St John joined Mourant Ozannes' litigation department in 1994 subsequently specialising in trust and related matters and general legal matters affecting trust companies including the Housing Control Law.

St John is a frequent contributor to journals, books and conferences, including country contributor to Trust and Trustees. St John is a contributor to International Trust Survey and International Succession.

Professional qualifications:

St John qualified as a Barrister (England 1985, currently non-practising) and an Advocate (Guernsey) in 1996.
