Jonathan joined Mourant Ozannes in 1998 and was admitted as a partner in 2003. Between 2003 and 2006, he was head of the London office and led the team through a period of significant growth to become one of the largest offshore practices in the City. Jonathan was elected Global Managing Partner in 2008 and re-elected in 2012 and again in 2016. As Global Managing Partner, Jonathan chairs the Management Committee and is responsible for implementing the firm's strategy. His experience includes leading the firm through the largest merger of offshore law firms, opening new offices in the Caribbean and Asia and establishing complementary businesses and services lines.
Jonathan has extensive experience advising leading financial institutions, corporates and intermediaries on a wide range of capital markets, structured finance and investment fund transactions. Prior to joining Mourant Ozannes, Jonathan was a banking lawyer at CMS Cameron McKenna in London and before that he spent five years on the management training programme at Barclays.
Jonathan is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He was called to the English Bar in 1995, admitted as an English Solicitor in 1997 (currently non-practising) and was sworn in as a Jersey Advocate in 2000. In 2016, he attended Harvard Business School's highly acclaimed executive programme, Leading Professional Services Firms. He has also completed the Meyler Campbell's The Leader Programme.
Jonathan is a member of the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Institute of Bankers, the International Bar Association, the English Law Society of England and Wales, the Jersey Law Society and the English Bar Association.
Jonathan has been named as a leading lawyer in IFLR's guide to the world's leading structured finance and securitisation lawyers.
